& to make it worse, every ad for this game, which is actually not a bad toilet game, lies about what type of game it is & the type of relationships the characters have with eachother. Imagine seeing an ad for Matchington Mansion with something from Undertale playing softly in the background. Some ads actually steal music from unrelated games. There are subreddits, Twitter accounts, & youtube channels dedicated to to terrible ads, & these mobile ads are the new hotness with the ones that focus on cringe & cursed ads. It's even worse when it's a cringy misleading ad for something you actually play & you know firsthand how much that ad is lying. I don't think charges of false advertising are going to stick when the "money" involved is so esoteric. I really just can't see what horrible thing is supposed to happen or what I'm losing here.Īlso, I was thinking more about this legally. You don't have to go full Black Mirror to come up with scenarios where this ends badly for some people. Like, I can see how this is important to some people. It's not like if I hadn't let them in on all my browsing habits, I could have sold that myself somewhere else.
Like, who's buying this info from some game company, when bigger sources have better info? Also, even if they are making all this money, it's not like it's money that I'm actually losing. Especially when all the stuff you are talking about is already known by Google and Facebook. And if that's your concern, you just wouldn't install games with permissions that can pull that much info.
